Eros, the divinity of antiquity, had many natures, in addition to that of passion: friendship and tenderness, affection and solidarity, sympathy and admiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remembering Thebes<\/em>, Odin Teatret’s work in progress with Julia Varley and directed by Eugenio Barba, presents three situations of Eros in the form of compassion n. It is a triptych, three grotesque, painful and emblematic stories that come from the contemporary everyday life and from the darkness of myth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First episode<\/strong>: a Yazid monk plants a tree in the desert to make the birds return. The tree grows but dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second episode<\/strong>: a Chechen refugee\u2019s love for her husband who died at war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third episode<\/strong>: Tiresias, blind and seer, recalls the fate of Oedipus and his daughter Antigone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
