ODIN HOME<\/strong> 2026<\/strong>
Nine days of training, performances, films, barters and theatre anthropology<\/strong>
led by Eugenio Barba and Odin Teatret\u2019s actors<\/strong>
6-15 July 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
ODIN HOME is an occasion to become personally acquainted with the history, the practice and the members of one of the oldest theatre groups in Europe. At the same time, it is a 9-day working residence devised for only 50 participants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ODIN HOME is led by Eugenio Barba and Odin Teatret\u2019s actors. The intensive programme starts early in the morning and ends in the evening with performances, work demonstrations and films. The working seances will deal theoretically and practically with the evolution of a personal training and of the actor\/dancer\u2019s dramaturgy at Odin Teatret. Eugenio Barba will clarify the principles of Theatre Anthropology as well as those of his approach as a director. Julia Varley will comment upon The Magdalena Project (a network of women in theatre) and her Festival Transit. There will be occasions for \u201cbarters\u201d, exchanges between the participants and in the community through cultural expressions, professional knowledge, discussions and personal dialogues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ODIN HOME is organised by Odin Teatret in collaboration with Brog\u00e5rden Kulturv\u00e6ksthus (an artist in residency space) and Teatret OM (Regional Theatre in Ringk\u00f8bing-Skjern Municipality), and is supported by the town of Ringk\u00f8bing (Denmark). It will take place at Brog\u00e5rden\u2019s historical building where participants and the teaching staff will live together, at the local Gymnasium, the Kristne Gymnasium and Teatret OM. The participation fee of DKK 7,500 (about 1,000 euro) covers food, lodging in shared rooms and participation during the whole period. This summer, I finally went. ODIN HOME<\/a>\u2014ten days, rural air, long daylight, a black box theatre every night\u2014became the place where my practice reset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why Odin? Because the work there built a path I could feel under my feet: training first, presence first, then performance. Because the ensemble that grew around Eugenio Barba<\/a> kept asking how a performer organizes energy before character or text. I needed to stand in that question in the room where it originated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am a playwright, director, and producer working in New York. I came here from Taiwan four years ago. I arrived at ODIN HOME in Denmark with questions I could not solve at a desk. Why do some rooms stay alert while others burn out? Why do some scenes grow stale the more we \u201cexplain\u201d them? How do I move a rehearsal from a stack of concepts to a shared practice that holds under pressure? What I brought back is not simply a philosophy, but habits. They are small and durable.
